By choosing to call my classes Queer Yoga, I flip the narrative. We live in a society designed for white, cis, straight people. Queer Yoga actively creates space for FLINTA*s, the LGBTIQA+ community, for trans- and non-binary people. Every body is welcome in my class, as long as you are respectfull and can be an ally*.

Working with intention

Let’s use yoga as a tool to (re)discover ourselfs. Let’s practice to bring our authentic self unapologetically to the mat. Face what’s alive in this moment and practice selfcare.

Refuse to shrink, to polish yourself into perfection, to trade truth for approval. Show up on the mat, messy, raw and unapologetic.

To support this practice I work with intention. You set your own intention at the beginning of the class. The way you practice yoga shows you the way you live your life. Let’s use that to help us grow.

Vinyasa flow

My classes include:
🔸Yoga asana’s, the postures, mindfull movement, flowing sequences.
🔸Airflow, linking breath and movement + breathing excercises.
🔸Meditation, mindfulness, movement of the mind.

*How to be an ally

Being an ally isn’t about being perfect. It’s about noticing, asking (for pronouns), self-educating, and speaking up – not for others, but with them. It is about taking an active role, listening, recognising one’s own prejudices, and educating oneself.

Key behaviors include:

  • Self-educate. You may have a lot of questions. Remember, most queer/trans people have probably had to answer a lot of questions before. Sincerely curious? Spend some time searching the web and find some anwers yourself.
  • Share your own pronouns and don’t assume what someone else’s are. And if you misgender someone, apologize and go on, don’t make a big fuss about it.
  • Listen and try to understand what it’s like for the other. Minority stress is real, and fear of being rejected for who you are is too. So practice compassion and speak up against hate.
